For Adegunle Boluwatife, a conservationist at the Nigerian Conservation Foundation (NCF), impact communication once felt like an abstract concept. She knew it was important but she found it difficult to define in practical terms. However, all that changed after participating in Pulse Narrative’s Impact Communication Capacity Building Program.
The training provided NCF participants with a structured approach to project communication, emphasizing the importance of understanding and communicating key project variables such as inputs, outputs, and activities. Adegunle found this particularly enlightening, as it enabled him to break down complex conservation efforts into relatable and measurable stories.
“I found the training incredibly educative,” Adegunle shared. “It showed us how to approach our projects holistically, from identifying variables to leveraging universal social impact storytelling frameworks.”
One of the highlights of the training was the hands-on session in audiovisual storytelling. Participants, including Adegunle, were tasked with crafting videos using basic tools like their smartphones. These exercises not only fostered creativity but also demonstrated how impactful stories could be produced quickly and effectively.
“The practical session on audiovisual storytelling was a game-changer. Seeing the immediate impact of what we created boosted our confidence,” Adegunle remarked.
Since the training, NCF has adopted more robust communication strategies for its reforestation projects and other initiatives. The team now crafts stories that not only inform but also inspire action, using storytelling frameworks that resonate with diverse stakeholders. Pulse Narrative’s training has empowered NCF to amplify the voice of their conservation work, ensuring their message reaches farther and inspires greater change. Adegunle’s transformation reflects the broader impact of equipping teams with the skills to communicate their stories with clarity, creativity, and confidence.
